Louis Elton Banks was born on October 17, 1940, in Quincy, Florida to the late Agnes Stephens He located to St. Petersburg, Florida at an early age and was raised by his aunt Bessie and her husband. Louis loved sports but had a special love for baseball. In 1962, Johnny King signed him to the Cardinals, he also played with the Negro League Indianapolis Clowns. Before the age of 21, Louis had traveled the United States and part of Canada and Mexico playing baseball. After baseball, he became an expert greyhound trainer and traveled throughout the United States training greyhound dogs. After retiring, Louis became a spectator at Derby Lane. He received Bible study and served faithfully as a Jehovah’s Witness.
