1700 49th street South St. Petersburg, Florida 33707 Saturday, July 17, 2010. at 1:00 pm Hazel N. Jernigan was born on March 5, 1943 to the late James and Janie Nelms in Nashville, Georgia. She was educated in Clinch County Schools. In 1965 Hazel moved to St. Petersburg, Florida and she became a Certified Nursing Assistant. Hazel was married 50 years to her loving husband, Mr. Jessie Jernigan and to this union two loving children were born. Hazel along with her husband, where the owners of J & J Paving. She attended Travlers Rest M. B. Church where she sang in the choir. On Saturday, July 10, 2010, Hazel heard the voice of the Lord and answered His call. She was preceded in death by, two brothers, Sammie Lee and James Author and three sisters, Jannie Mae, Sandra, and Linda. She leaves to mourn her passing.... A devoted husband: Mr. Jessie Jernigan; One son: Jolemar Jernigan of St. Petersburg, FL; One daughter: Brenda Lee Ross of St. Petersburg, FL; Grandsons she raised: Steven and Rob Ross of St. Petersburg, FL; Two granddaughters: Paula and Precious Jernigan of St. Petersburg, FL; Five brothers: Malachi (Johnnie Mae) Nelms of West Palm Beach, FL, John Willis (Denise) Nelms and Donald Nelms both of Lansing, MI, Willie Lee (Rudine) Nelms of St. Petersburg, FL, and Walter Edwards of Jacksonville, FL; Four sisters: Betty Ragister, Yvonne Nelms both of St. Petersburg, FL, Elnora Davis of Homerville, Georgia and Wanda (Sanders) Gipson of Valdosta, Georgia; Five great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
