Not, How Did He Die, But How Did He Live?
Not how did he die, but how did he live?
Not what did he gain, but what did he give?
These are the units to measure the worth
Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.
Not, what was his church, nor what was his creed?
But had he befriended those really in need?
Was he ever ready, with word of good cheer,
To bring back a smile, to banish a tear?
Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say,
But how many were sorry when he passed away.

Smacky was a great person and always there when you needed him. When I was at Lakewood, if Smacky had a football in his hand no matter where we were he would always drill me in the chest with a perfect spiral trying to catch me off guard. He told me that someday we will be on the field together and I want you to be ready. It never happened because I was younger and didn't play at the same level as he did at the time, but we sure did hook up outside of playing at school. I always looked up to him as a hero and I'm sure to many of his peers feel the same way. Smacky will not be forgotten.

I have often spoken about you to my family and friends when they ask questions like what were some of the craziest things you did back in school? My friend you were in with me, I can still envision us walking in the halls laughing with your great smile. You will never be forgotten my brother, you have forever fulfilled me with so many great memories of true friendship. My condolence and blessings go out to the Brown Family.
