Melrose Walker was born on July 24, 1934, in Stillmore, Georgia to the late Minnie Lee Dukes and David Walker. At a tender, early age, Melrose moved with her family to Miami, Florida. She graduated from George Washington Carver Senior High School in 1951 and attended Miami Dade Community College, where she obtained her AA degree in Elementary Education. She was employed with Miami Dade County Public Schools where she started her career as a Library Clerk at Holmes Elementary School and later Attendance Clerk at Lorah Park Elementary where she retired after 31 years of service.
Melrose was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Brownsville under the leadership of the late Reverend L. I. James and later moved her membership to Second Canaan Missionary Baptist Church. There she served with various auxiliaries which included the Mission Society, #2 Usher Board and the Miami/Atlanta Christian Youth Seminar. Additionally, she diligently served as the church clerk and faithfully took minutes from every monthly conference meeting until her health declined. Melrose was also active in the community with the Zeta Amicae auxiliary organization and received numerous accolades. She enjoyed a very active life traveling often and spending lots of time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her only son, Staff Sgt. Timothy S. Williams, II.

Sent on January 29, 2010 From: Pastor Al Baldwin Relationship: Friend To Macki and the entire family just wanted to encourage you by saying, weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning. As you go through this rough time in your life always trust God. For He is to wise to make a mistake and to just to error. Take comfort in knowing as the word of God states; it is far better to be absent from the body and present with the Lord. Just know that mom is now present with the Lord. Be strong and know that you and your family is in my prayers.

What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why they left this earth so soon, or why they left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that they died, but that they lived. And that their life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.
Please accept our heartfelt sympathy on the passing of our Beloved Melrose.
We love you,
